Typically, responses may require up to a week after form submission. In the interim, address any damage or remove the net entirely.

Just like how clothing fits and wears differently on each person, hay nets can experience unique wear depending on your animal’s habits, environment, and feeding setup.Our nets are built tough with premium Canadian-made, knotless netting, but even the strongest materials experience natural wear over time — especially when exposed to teeth, weather, and everyday use.


Why Some Nets Wear Faster

  • Eating Style: Some horses are more “enthusiastic grazers” — they tug, twist, or rub while others nibble gently.
  • Teeth Placement: Horses with uneven or sharp teeth can create extra friction on certain areas.
  • Mounting Surface: Rough edges on feeders, fences, or metal grates can cause premature rubbing or fraying.
  • Moisture & UV: Constant sun exposure or prolonged wet conditions can weaken fibers more quickly over time.

How to Help Prevent Damage

  • Check your nets regularly for wear spots and trim any loose strands before they expand.
  • Avoid tying or dragging nets on abrasive surfaces.
  • Rotate feeding locations or nets to distribute wear evenly.
  • Use smooth rings, snaps, or feeding surfaces that don’t create friction points.
  • If your horse is new to slow feeding, start with a larger hole size and adjust once they’re comfortable.
